SVG Capital has switched horses in the final straight of the race to buy its assets, opting to back a late proposal from Goldman Sachs and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board over two other possible offers. The private equity firm, which has been seeking “white knight” bidders since a hostile offer from the US group HarbourVest last month, said Goldman and its partner have offered £748m in cash for all of its assets.
