Singapore Post Names New Chairman, While Questions Remain On Governance

Singapore’s postal and logistics services company Singapore Post has appointed Simon Israel as successor to outgoing chairman Lim Ho Kee, who has served in the post for 13 years, as question marks continue to hang over the company’s corporate governance practices. Israel, 63, is chairman of Singapore Telecom and director of CapitaLand, the real estate company. He also served as the executive director and president of the city’s state investor Temasek Holdings until 2011. Israel will take up the post of SingPost chairman on May 11. Lee steps down on May 10 after the announcement of the company’s full-year financial results, and will remain as a director until the annual general meeting in July.
