The rise in activism led corporate boards to raise their performance levels, according to Paula Loop. Loop says boards are more conscious of their composition and disclosures now. While boards are more conscious and aware of their faults and deficiencies, they are by no means fully evolved. Boards are turning outwards, becoming more transparent and diverse as they turn toward engagement with shareholders to combat the threat activist investors pose.
