Who Decides What Things Really Matter? The Pivotal Role of the Board Chairman

Boards have unwritten rules that guide the interactions of the directors. Their contributions are made through dialog and questioning. The old dark days of ceremonial boards are fortunately gone. Even Prof. Peter Drucker described them as an impotent legal fiction in 1974. Board directors must now find a balance between listening, speaking up and challenging in a productive and constructive way.
